Letter from Ella Van Horn to Anna Page?
White House, NJ
May 21, 1900
Dear Cousin Anna:--
I have seen Edith, she tells me she wrote you a letter
some time ago asking an immediate reply, and has not heard anything
from you. So I decided to write it is not necessary for me to
repeat what she has already written, my objet is to get your answer,
which if you do not give you may be sorry for, for my part I am
getting tied of this stqanding still, and only getting infamiy
from those who really owe us the greatest humility.
The last letter we received from Bennie was to me astonishing.
I should have thought him to gentlemanly to have written as he
did had I not seen it: it was certainly infamous, under the circumstances.
It is very hard to hear such things after all we have been compelled
to stand. I do not wish to be severe, but I feel I must be plain
and hope there may be no further delay in hearing from you.
Either write to Edith or me if you can not write to both as our
sentiments are all about the same I think. How is Aunt Margaret
now and I hope your health may have improved. This being my third
letter I am getting pretty tired. I have just recently recovered
from an attack of measles.
We are having it cool now for the season. Give my love to all
your family also your self. And please let us hear your decision
very soon, or you may have time to regret. I feel we cannot be
so trifled with any longer.
I must now stop, please let us hear from you at earliest convenience.
Very Sincerely,
Ella Van Horn
